The story of the Druids of the Flame dates back ten thousand years, to a time when Malfurion Stormrage, the Archdruid of the night elves, fell into a deep slumber within the Emerald Dream. Fandral Staghelm, a once-trusted druid leader, seized this opportunity to seize power. However, the tragic loss of his son Valstann pushed Fandral into madness and darkness.
Seeking vengeance, he made a sinister pact with Ragnaros, the Firelord, transforming himself and his followers into a new breed of druid. Their mission was simple: to burn Mount Hyjal and its World Tree to ashes, along with anyone who dared to oppose them. Despite their destructive ambitions, their plans were foiled, and Fandral was eventually slain within the Firelands.
However, the surviving Druids of the Flame found new allies in the aftermath of the War of the Thorns, a catastrophic event where Sylvanas Windrunner razed Teldrassil and destroyed Darnassus. Traumatized night elves, disillusioned by Elune’s perceived inaction, were welcomed into the ranks of the Druids of the Flame. Together, they hatched a dark plan to claim the power of the Emerald Dream, a realm intrinsically linked to the world of Azeroth.
