London, UK – Stephen Mulhern, renowned television presenter and entertainer, has confirmed that he is in discussions with ITV about becoming the new face of Dancing On Ice, filling the void left by Phillip Schofield. Schofield, the former This Morning presenter, stepped down from all his projects with the broadcaster after admitting to an affair with a junior member of staff. Mulhern, who has a longstanding relationship with ITV, is no stranger to the popular competition series. He has previously presented the spin-off show, Defrosted, and has even stood in for Schofield during his absence due to illness.
In a recent statement to the Daily Mail, Mulhern expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity. “We are talking about it,” he confirmed. “But I promise you now that nothing is confirmed. If it happens, it will be absolutely amazing… if it doesn’t, look, it doesn’t. I promise you I would tell you if we had it confirmed at this point.” He also praised the current lineup of contestants, stating, “The lineup is the best it has been in a few years… It is a huge staple, and it has been around.”
The confirmed participants for the upcoming season of Dancing On Ice include comedian Lou Sanders, Made In Chelsea’s Miles Nazaire, original Gogglebox star Stephen Lustig-Webb, DJ Adele Roberts, Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas, Emmerdale’s Roxy Shahidi, world champion boxer Ricky Hatton, EastEnders’ Ricky Norwood, actress Claire Sweeney, S Club singer Hannah Spearritt, former Love Island star Amber Davies, and Olympic champion Greg Rutherford.
One of the lingering questions surrounding Mulhern’s potential role is whether he will be co-hosting with long-time presenter Holly Willoughby. Willoughby recently announced her departure from This Morning, citing her decision as one made for her family. Despite this, sources have revealed that Willoughby has expressed her desire to continue hosting Dancing On Ice, indicating her strong connection with the show and ITV.
Dancing on Ice, which debuted on ITV in 2006, has been a significant part of British television entertainment for years. Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were the show’s iconic hosts, with Christine Lampard briefly stepping in for Willoughby from 2012 to 2014.
As fans eagerly await the official announcement regarding the new host, the future of Dancing On Ice remains as exciting and uncertain as ever. Mulhern’s potential addition to the team promises a fresh and dynamic energy, ensuring that the show continues to captivate audiences across the nation.
