Netflix’s highly anticipated sci-fi drama, Bodies, has made its way to the streaming giant’s library, promising viewers an intriguing journey through time and mystery. Created by Paul Tomalin and based on the graphic novel by Si Spencer, the show, starring Stephen Graham, takes audiences on a mind-bending exploration of a murder mystery spanning 150 years.
Set in Whitechapel, London, Bodies unfolds over four distinct time periods – the 1890s, 1940s, present day, and the futuristic 2050s. The series revolves around the discovery of the same dead body on Longharvest Lane in different eras, leading four detectives, each from a different time, to investigate the enigmatic case. As they delve deeper, they unravel connections that transcend time, uncovering a conspiracy that spans over a century.

Despite its Whitechapel setting, the series was brought to life not in London, but in the picturesque landscapes of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Bradford, Leeds, and Rotherham served as the backdrop for this intricate tale of mystery and intrigue.
Speaking about the filming locations, Kyle Soller, who plays Victorian detective Alfred Hillinghead, expressed his amazement, stating, “The sets they built and the locations, not just in Leeds but also in places like Bradford and Rotherham, were amazing.” Stephen Graham, who portrays the enigmatic Elias Mannix/Julian Harker, also praised the set designs, emphasizing the attention to detail that immersed the actors into the world of the story.

During the summer of 2022, the production team utilized various locations to create the different time periods depicted in the series. Bradford’s iconic sites, including Lister Mills, City Hall, Salts Mill, and Burnett Street in Little Germany, were transformed into the futuristic London of 2053. Additionally, Manningham in Bradford, Henderson Street, and Kasba in Grimsby, Leeds, Bolton, Wentworth Woodhouse in Rotherham, and Hull Old Town, along with Princes Quay Shopping Centre in Kingston Upon Hull, contributed to the diverse and visually stunning backdrop of Bodies.
For fans eagerly anticipating the release, Bodies premiered on Netflix at 8 am on October 19. With its captivating storyline, exceptional performances, and the picturesque charm of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, the series promises to be a binge-worthy experience for viewers seeking an enthralling blend of mystery and time travel. So, buckle up and get ready for a journey through time like never before, exclusively on Netflix.
