Hull, East Yorkshire
Shield Security, a leading security specialist, is marking two decades of dedicated service, protecting businesses and organizations from crime. Established in 2003 by managing director David Frank and business partner Phil Mackay, the company has grown from a small team offering property guarding patrols to a robust workforce of 600 employees operating across Yorkshire, Manchester, and Newcastle.
Initially focusing on businesses in Hull and East Yorkshire, Shield Security now extends its services to encompass Yorkshire, Manchester, and Newcastle, catering to a wide array of clients including local authorities, NHS Trusts, and prominent local businesses. With a comprehensive range of security and surveillance offerings, the company has become a trusted name in the industry.

“We’ve evolved over the years to ensure we have remained at the forefront of the industry, and that has meant that we’ve added many extra services in that time,” stated David Frank, reflecting on the company’s growth. Shield Security’s services now include not only traditional property guarding but also advanced solutions such as CCTV and alarm system installations, all monitored in their state-of-the-art 24-hour control room.

A key factor contributing to the company’s success has been its commitment to fostering a positive work environment and maintaining excellent client relationships. “We’ve always tried to just be a good business, and by that, we mean a good business that our staff enjoy working for, and one our clients enjoy dealing with,” emphasized Phil Mackay, emphasizing their client-focused approach and dedication to quality service.
To commemorate the remarkable milestone of 20 years in the industry, Shield Security recently hosted a celebration event at their headquarters in Priory Park East, Hull. The event was attended by the Lord Mayor of Hull, Cllr Kalvin Neal, who, interestingly, shared a history with Frank and Mackay as former colleagues in the Territorial Army.

“It was really nice to get our staff together and celebrate all the business has achieved over the past 20 years, as it’s the staff who make us what we are,” remarked David Frank, reflecting on the celebration. The event featured the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by Cllr Neal and the honoring of long-serving staff members who have been with Shield Security for 15 years or more.
Shield Security’s journey from a small local security provider to a regional powerhouse exemplifies the company’s dedication to excellence, innovation, and community service. As they look forward to the future, Shield Security remains committed to its core values, ensuring the safety and security of the communities they serve for years to come.
