After nearly four decades since his debut on TV screens, Frasier Crane has returned, and he’s pretty much the same, albeit with a different cityscape.
Paramount+ dropped the first full trailer for the revival of the beloved ’90s sitcom “Frasier” on Thursday. This trailer sheds more light on the series, with Kelsey Grammer reprising his role as the titular character 30 years after the original show’s debut.
Set in Boston, the city where audiences were first introduced to Frasier, the trailer reveals his attempt to reconnect with his now-adult son, Freddy, portrayed by Jack Cutmore-Scott. Frasier moves from Seattle with hopes of repairing their strained relationship.

In classic Frasier fashion, this endeavor proves challenging. The pompous psychiatrist arrives unannounced at his son’s house and later forbids him from sitting on a couch adorned with expensive Christian Lacroix cushions.

The trailer also features scenes of Frasier sitting in a bar, enjoying a beer, and feeling out of place among the common folk. He’s playfully teased by his old college friend turned university professor, Alan, portrayed by British comedy icon Nicholas Lyndhurst.
The trailer generated more than a million views on YouTube within just 24 hours of its release, building excitement for the show’s return on October 12.

This new chapter will follow Frasier as he leaves Seattle and returns to Boston, where he faces “new challenges to face, new relationships to forge, and an old dream or two to finally fulfill,” according to Paramount’s official series description.
Boston holds a special place in Frasier’s television history, as it was where he first graced screens in the beloved 1980s sitcom “Cheers.”
“Frasier” became one of the most successful spin-offs in TV history, taking the character back to his hometown of Seattle and introducing a host of memorable characters, including his father, Martin, and his neurotic little brother, Niles.

The original show enjoyed an impressive 11-year run and snagged a record-breaking 37 Emmys for a comedy series. Sadly, John Mahoney, who played Martin, passed away in 2018, and David Hyde Pierce chose not to reprise his role as Niles in the revival.
However, fans can look forward to the return of Frasier’s ex-wife, Dr. Lilith Sternin, as Bebe Neuwirth reprises her role for a guest appearance in the new series. Lilith and Frasier will reunite at Freddy’s birthday party, and what starts as a cheerful gathering with friends and family will inevitably turn into a Lilith-and-Frasier showdown for the ages, as teased by Paramount+.
