In a groundbreaking archaeological revelation, experts from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Andrew University, and Agri Ibrahim Cecen University (AICU) have uncovered compelling evidence that points towards a potential link to the biblical tale of Noah’s Ark. The startling discovery was made at a boat-shaped mound located in what is now eastern Turkey, near the mountains of Ararat, where, according to the Book of Genesis, the Ark came to rest after the Great Flood.
The excavation, which began in 2021, initially yielded materials such as clay and seafood. However, recent findings have astounded researchers, suggesting human activity on the site dating back to the Chalcolithic period, between 5500 and 3000 BC. AICU Vice Rector Professor Faruk Kaya explained the significance of the discovery, stating, “According to the first findings obtained from the studies, there have been human activities in the region since the Chalcolithic period between the years 5500 and 3000 BC.
It is known that the flood of Prophet Noah occurred 5,000 years ago. In terms of dating, it is stated that there was life in this region as well. This was revealed in the laboratory results. It is not possible to say that the ship is here with the dating. We need to work for a long time to reveal this.”
The narrative of Noah’s Ark, a vessel constructed to safeguard Noah, his family, and two of every animal species from the impending flood, is a well-known biblical account. Despite numerous claims by researchers and enthusiasts regarding the discovery of the Ark, definitive evidence has remained elusive until now.
