Renowned television personality Amanda Holden has expressed her sadness and concern over the departure of her former colleague, David Walliams, from ITV’s popular show Britain’s Got Talent in 2022. Walliams, a co-judge on the show, left citing a need to focus on other projects, after being embroiled in controversy due to leaked audio containing insensitive comments about BGT contestants. Walliams has since filed a lawsuit against the show’s producers, Fremantle, alleging an unlawful data protection breach.

Holden, who has been a fixture on the BGT judging panel since 2007, spoke openly about her support for Walliams despite his exit. In a recent interview, she shared her feelings about his departure, stating, “Well, Alesha and I love David. It was sad when he went. I’m in touch with him. Always. We’re always supportive of David. It’s always worrying when things change.”
The actress and Heart FM DJ also praised the show’s ability to adapt, highlighting the positive impact of introducing new panel members like Bruno Tonioli. Holden commended Simon Cowell, the show’s creator, for his knack for reinvention and spoke highly of Tonioli, whom she described as discreet and admirable.

Holden emphasized the importance of female friendships in the entertainment industry, particularly her bond with fellow BGT judge Alesha Dixon. The two stars, who have worked together since Dixon joined the show in 2012, have maintained a close friendship and supportive professional relationship.
Meanwhile, David Walliams has been making headlines with his legal battle against Fremantle, accusing the production company of recording, transcribing, and retaining private conversations for a decade without consent. Walliams, co-creator of the popular comedy show Little Britain, revealed that his departure from BGT had a severe impact on his mental health, leading to battles with suicidal thoughts.
In response to Walliams’ legal action, a spokesperson for Fremantle stated, “We had a long and productive relationship with David and so are surprised and saddened by this legal action. For our part, we remain available and open to dialogue to resolve this matter amicably. However, in the interim, we will examine the various allegations and are prepared to robustly defend ourselves if necessary.”

As the legal battle unfolds, Amanda Holden’s candid remarks continue to shed light on the challenges and changes faced by the entertainment industry, emphasizing the importance of support and camaraderie among colleagues. Britain’s Got Talent fans await further developments while cherishing the memories of the show’s dynamic judging panels over the years.
